After the welding, the office chair tilt mechanisms will be sent for the acid pickling and the painting.
03
After preparing all the components of tilt mechanism, the workers will begin assembling.

Testing is a crucial step, because it can ensure the quality of the final delivery.
Armrest and Backrest Test
Number of tests: 52597
Current power: 50.0kg
Peak value: 51.5kg
Holding pressure time setting: 1.2 seconds
Holding pressure setting: 45.3kg
Lower limit of holding pressure setting: 44.3kg
During the Chair Tilt Mechanism Manufacturing, there are lots of parts processed by stamping. Therefore, the stamping mold work shop is very necessary.
“On February, 14, 2017, BIFMA released the 2017 version of X5.1 standard for the General Purpose Office Chairs. There are some major and minor changes to the standard, which may affect the ability of certain products to meet the BIFMA X5.1 standard. “
In this part, we will list out the relative standard requirements on the Tilt Mechanism Test and Back Durability Test.
Major Changes
Minor Changes That Will Still Affect Your Product
Office Chair Back Backward Durability Tester
The Office Chair Back Backward Durability Tester is suitable for all office chair whose backrest tilt mechanism has the back tilt function. It is used to evaluate the durability of the office chair Tilt Mechanism under load.
Testing process: Fix the chair, load 240 pounds of weight on the chair surface, and apply external force to make 300,000 reciprocating movements at a speed of 10-30 CPM between the front and rear dead points.
Test result: No loss of function after the test. That will be qualified (also can be judged according to customers’ specified requirements).
Tilt Mechanism Handle Durability Tester
Used to evaluate the durability of the handle of office chair tilt mechanism under long-term use.
Test process: Fix the tilt mechanism, apply external force to simulate the use of the handle for 300,000 times.
Test result: No loss of function after the test. That will be qualified. (also can be judged according to customers’ specified requirements).
When choosing office chairs, laymen usually pay attention to appearance, function and price. While experts know that the technical core of office chairs lies in the design and manufacture of the office chair tilt mechanism, and the core of safety lies in the class of the gas cylinder. As long as customers grasp these two key points, they can pick out seats are generally durable, comfortable and safe.

How to Distinguish the 5 Types of Office Chair Tilt Mechanisms?
Generally, most people actually don’t truly know how the office chairs work when they are purchasing.
Office chairs are made in various shapes and sizes. They are also with many unique features, which make them able to greatly benefit anyone who uses them! It’s really worth to understand how certain features of an office chair can work.
For example, a lumbar support is great and indispensable for those who have back problems. And it can also prevent these issues in the first place effectively.
Therefore, we’re going to discuss the tension tilt features and the following issues:
At first, let’s learn about the definition of a ‘tension tilt’. With the ’tilt’ part, users can rock back and forth on the chair, and also recline.
Where does the tension come in? Actually, the ‘tension’ feature is a knob. Users can use it to adjust, increase or decrease the force needed to tilt. Thus, a tension tilt feature basically allows users to decide how much they want to recline on a chair, and how much force is required to do so.
* Almost all of our ergonomic tilt mechanisms are equipped with a tilt tension. Such as:
NG003B Tilt Mechanism
NG012D Tilt Mechanism
NB002 Tilt Mechanism
NB002B Tilt Mechanism
This mechanism works according to your individual weight. Therefore, a heavy user will require a tighter tension. While a lighter one will require tighter control. If the tension is set wrong for your weight or height, you may experience an unpleasant sensation of tipping backwards! What’s worse, you may get an opposite result and hard to recline at all.
It would be recommended that you adjust your chair until you can easily recline and change positions. After all, you should be as comfortable and supported as possible when working. It’s crucial for your chair to be ergonomic for maximum productivity. So we should fully understand that the tension tilt is a really important feature.
